FROM JULY 24 TO 30, DURING THE RUSSIA-AFRICA SUMMIT, THE “STARS OF AFRICA” GASTRONOMIC FESTIVAL WILL BE HELD IN ST. PETERSBURG
Especially for the festival, Blok created 3 signature African-style dishes.
– Poikikos with northern shrimp, chicken and roasted pepper sauce.
Poikikos is a favorite South African dish, literally translated as “pot food”. At Blok we serve Poikikos with northern shrimp, chicken and a spicy curried roasted pepper sauce.
– Asida with stewed lamb.
Asida is a traditional Arabic dish, choux pastry or porridge made from wheat flour. Chef Evgeny Zubov prepares this dish from corn porridge with the addition of stewed lamb.
– Peanut makrud with date jelly and pumpkin ice cream.
Makrud is a traditional North African sweet pastry usually made with dates. At Blok we created a peanut makrud dessert using dacquoise sponge cake with date jelly and pumpkin ice cream.
